President’s Message – June 2015

I am pleased to announce that the South Carolina InfraGard Member’s Alliance has partnered with The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, for the 2015 Intelligence and Homeland Security Enterprise Conference to be held 16-18 September at the Charleston Marriott, 170 Lockwood Blvd,, Charleston, SC. As an InfraGard member, you will be able to attend all three days of this exciting conference for $99.  This is a $150 savings for InfraGard members.

On Wednesday 16 September, there will be a Homeland Security and Intelligence Career Fair.   Attendees will have the opportunity to network and those from out of town can settle into accommodations at the Marriott.  Lodging is not included in the conference price.  However,  rooms have been blocked off for conference attendees.  Traditional rooms are at single rate ($159) for 16 & 17 September.

Thursday 17 September is when the conference officially begins with the Plenary Speaker, Lt Gen Vincent R. Stewart, USMC,  Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).  In the afternoon, South Carolina InfraGard Member’s Alliance President, Glenn Remsen, will be leading a thought provoking panel entitled,  Asymmetrically Countering the Lone Wolf at the Local level. This panel also includes former South Carolina InfraGard Coordinator and FBI Special Agent Sean Cassidy (currently treasurer for SC InfraGard), former NSA fusion analyst Judith McCarty, and President of Achilles Intelligence Services, Patrick “Ed” Buckley.  Mr. Buckley has also served in the FBI in Norfolk Virginia coordinating and leading field intelligence activities for JTTF International Terrorism Squad.  After this panel, the South Carolina InfraGard Member’s Alliance will have a membership meeting that will be open to InfraGard members from other chapters.

Other speakers include representatives from the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC),  Rear Admiral Christopher Tomney, United States Coast Guard, as well as representatives from DHS and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
